The concept of the "garden city" was born at the end of the 19th century in England with the idea of creating residential neighborhoods close to the historic center to offer the comforts of the downtown but in quieter areas. This idea was taken up for the first time in Italy in Rome where right on Via Nomentana, one of the main consular streets of the city, on a hill already sacred to the ancient Romans (Monte Sacro), the "Città Giardino" neighborhood (which means "City Garden") was built. The neighborhood has today become one of the most sought-after areas of Rome for residents because it offers the tranquility of a zone with many ancient villas with all modern services such as supermarkets, parks, clubs on the banks of the Aniene river and fast connections to the downtown.
